MARVEL Tōkon Fighting Souls Open Beta Guide

The Open Beta for MARVEL Tōkon Fighting Souls ran July 24–26, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC — the final free public rehearsal before the August 6 launch. Producer Takeshi Yamanaka’s SDCC note confirmed the test roster widened: planners started at 15 playable fighters and added Green Goblin for the open window.

What the beta was for

  • Stress-testing online features and lobbies (including large Open Lobby fantasy)
  • Teaching Startup Battle and core systems to a mass audience
  • Letting players sample a wide roster slice ahead of the full 20 at launch
  • Gathering feedback ahead of final tuning

Earlier closed betas (September and December 2025) featured smaller casts and shorter windows; the open test was the dress rehearsal.

What you should have practiced (or should simulate now)

  1. Controls comfort on your real launch device
  2. Assist timing from Systems
  3. One beginner point character (Cap, Ms. Marvel, or Wolverine)
  4. Optional villain labs — Green Goblin if you caught the open window
  5. Lobby navigation from Online
  6. A draft saved in Team Builder

How to transfer beta habits to launch

Beta muscle memory can lie if patches change assists or unlock timing. Keep the habits, re-verify the numbers. On launch week, re-read Updates — including Phoenix Cyclops Year 1 plans — and avoid treating beta Tier Lists as eternal truth.

If you did not play the beta

You are not behind permanently. Complete Startup Battle, read How to Play, and spend a weekend in casual. Episode Mode (Episode Mode guide) also onboards systems with less lobby chaos.

Beta-to-launch checklist

  • Confirm edition choice (Editions)
  • Confirm PC specs / PSN (Platforms)
  • Pick a day-one team of four
  • Bookmark official channels on Links
  • Schedule sleep — launch week lobbies are marathon content

The open beta’s job was to prove the fantasy: Marvel cast, Arc Sys sauce, approachable entry. Launch is where your notes become a main.
