MARVEL Tōkon Fighting Souls The Champion — Unlock Guide
The 21st fighter is the Episode Mode final boss. Clear one story arc and he joins the roster.
The Champion of the Universe is the secret 21st playable fighter in MARVEL Tōkon Fighting Souls. He starts locked because he is the antagonist and final boss of Episode Mode — an Elder of the Universe running a high-stakes tournament that threatens Earth.
You do not need to clear all five Episodes, finish All-Star Arena, or play online to unlock him.
How to unlock The Champion
- Open Episode Mode from the main menu.
- Pick any one of the five team stories:
- Complete every chapter in that Episode.
- Defeat The Promoter in the late-game encounters.
- Defeat The Champion in the finale and finish the ending sequence.
- Return to the menus — a notification confirms he is playable.
Cutscenes and motion-comic panels can be skipped if you only want the unlock. Many players finish a single Episode in under 30 minutes by mashing Link Attacks early and focusing on Assemble requirements later.
Difficulty does not gate the unlock. Lower it after losses if you are hunting the character, not a challenge run.
How to beat The Champion (boss fight tips)
- Prefer reliable Link Attacks over unfamiliar high-damage routes
- Block first, then punish — do not mash into his pressure
- Call Assemble Assists to cover approaches
- Use Crossover while guarding to interrupt strings
- Save Skill Gauge for clean Super / Ultimate conversions
- Remember the unlock does not require a specific difficulty
Playstyle snapshot (once unlocked)
The Champion is a big-body striker with a Pride Meter fantasy. Early community placements put him in C-Tier on the Character Tier List because:
- He cannot call normal assists until Pride Meter pays out (spiritual aura assistance instead)
- His large hurtbox is easier to hit
- He asks more discipline than the S-Tier starters like Black Panther or Blade
Unlock him anyway — he matters for fantasy, Trophies, and understanding Episode Mode’s ending.
The Promoter is not unlockable
The Promoter (Xirena Awhina) appears as a boss and master of ceremonies. Completing Episodes does not add her to the playable roster. Year 1 DLC seats are separate — see DLC schedule.
